Stained glass study

I have been experimenting lately with what it takes to defeat the technical problems with lighting and retaining color saturation, (remembering that I'm a rank amateur) in capturing stained glass windows well. The entire northeastern seaboard is dotted with the most beautiful churches replete with the most amazing handpainted stained glass wiindows. And what I have to work with is a dinosaur 35mm with no tripod or flash....just fast film and a telephoto.
I love challenges and learning the hard way..what can I say
